spinning, etc
Jul. 20th, 2005 01:40 pmso, i think i am going to enlist my mother to teach me how to spin my own yarn. she dragged the old spinning wheel out of the depths of the storage room and dusted it off, on sunday. chatting with my dad, i learned that his company has been getting a lot of calls each week, from people looking to buy the spinning and weaving equipment that they used to make.
so i just did a quick google search, and came across a ton of interesting things, like message boards of people looking for product info, people wanting to buy particular products and replacement parts, and webshops that are lamenting the fact that the company doesn't make spinning equipment anymore! how sad. i'm trying to convince my dad to open up a little webshop.
i also found a couple of eBay auctions for his products. i remember, as a little girl, watching my dad make these hand carders in his basement workshop. now people are buying and selling them on eBay? it's a weird feeling!

so, spinners & weavers, where do you buy your supplies? do you have a favorite source for roving? what are your favorite fibers? i'll most likely be using all Clemes & Clemes spinning equipment (hand/drum carders, wheels, spindles) but you can tell me about your favorite types of equipment, too. i just ordered heidi's spinning zine from my paper crane and i'm pretty excited to see it.
