my ears are red, my throat is hoarse, my hands are cold but my heart is a little warmer.
i saw the rally driving home from the grocery store tonight, so i quickly stopped at home to make some hot tea and put away the groceries.
drove back out to the corner of High & MacArthur, found the corner of people holding No On Prop 8 signs- surrounded on all three corners by the Yes people- and asked if anyone had an extra sign.
I grabbed my sign, and quickly went over to a corner populated with a crowd of Yes people, and only two No's... It was a mother and daughter, the girl was about 10 or so. They, too, had been driving by and decided to stop and join in.
Also among the crowd of opponents was a Franciscan friar... as we were leaving the teenagers holding Yes signs insulted him by yelling for him to "take off his costume."
The sheer amount of hate pouring from these people was so, so disheartening, disgusting and just sad.
I plan on going back after work tomorrow, and add another voice to the No's.. If you're in the East Bay or willing to come out, please think about joining, too.
