It's a sad day for Oakland: The Parkway Speakeasy theater will be closing its doors on Sunday, March 22nd.

I have so, so many good memories of this theater. I only wish that I had joined the crowd here on election night, or inauguration day. But I have seen many a movie and eaten many a pizza at the Parkway. It's a true institution, and a must-experience for anyone visiting Oakland for any decent period of time. I'm really sad to see it go.

My only solace is the Cerrito Speakeasy theater, owned by the same folks. It's closer to where I work so I've tended to head there much more often, lately. I hope everyone makes a renewed effort to support the Cerrito now- the Bay Area needs to keep this theater in business.
